What would be a good, portable, digital sound recorder under 200 dollars?
Question by brandon m: What would be a good, portable, digital sound recorder under 200 dollars?
I have just bought a auido tenchina shotgun condenser and I am looking to buy a digital sound recorder that has a good at least 512 mb of free space and is under 200 dollars. I don’t even need it to play audio, I just need it to have a mic line for my condenser to go in and be able to transfer the audio onto my computer.

Tascam DR07 is within your budget but you will need an adapter plug for the mic to the device. A step-up from the DR07 would be the Tascam DR100 or the Zoom H4n, which will have XLR mic inputs and give you 4-channels. Those cost around $ 300.00.

I have used this product and it performs really well I would definitely suggest
Tascam DR07 Portable Digital Recorder
pros:
small
light weight
records any combination of 16/24bit 44.1k/48k sample rate
has built in mics
very easy to use
takes SD cards to expand recording time.
records either mp3 or wave files.
sound is directional, and records the best from directly in front.
Comes with a wind screen.
Takes AA batteries, easy to find and use.
cons:
Mic pre-amps are VERY noisy: when recording an interview or acoustic guitar, you can hear the hiss through it… lots of hiss on low volume recordings like that.
